 Its discovery last month captured the imaginations of millions around the globe.

And the news that an Earth-like planet had been found which could support life and which lay only 20 light years away sparked feverish speculation that we may not be alone in the universe.

But now a group of scientists have claimed that Gliese 581g, a rocky world just three times the size of Earth, may not even exist.

The devastating claim has been made by a group of Swiss astronomers who have cast doubt on the original research and say that they can find no trace of the planet in their own analysis of the same data.

In the original announcement last month a team led by Dr Stephen Vogt from the University of California said that Gliese 581g lay in its star's 'Goldilocks zone' - the region in space where conditions are neither too hot or too cold for liquid water to form oceans, lakes and rivers.

Planets orbiting distant stars are too small to be seen by telescopes. Instead, astronomers look for tell-tale gravitational wobbles in the stars that show a planet is in orbit.



But Francesco Pepe of the Geneva Observatory in Sauverny, Switzerland, told a conference in Torino, Italy, that a combination of old and new data acquired by his team shows no sign of the planet.



In the original announcement last month a team led by Dr Stephen Vogt from the University of California said that Gliese 581g lay in its star's 'Goldilocks zone' - the region in space where conditions are neither too hot or too cold for liquid water to form oceans, lakes and rivers.

Pepe said: 'If a signal corresponding to the announced Gliese 581g planet was present in our data we should have been able to detect it.'

His team had access to the same sets of data that the original researchers who trumpeted the existence of the planet to worldwide fanfare at the end of September.



Those measurements revealed a total of four planets circling the star. The team’s latest report also includes an additional 60 measurements made with the sensitive HARPS spectrograph on a telescope at La Silla, Chile.



They discovered the existence of the four planets circling Gliese 581, which had already been confirmed, but could find no sign of Gliese 581g - the planet which had gripped the public's imagination.



Pepe told the conference: 'From these data we easily recover the four previously announced planets. However, we do not see any evidence for a fifth planet in an orbit of 37 days'.



He told New Scientist that he was not trying to undermine Dr Steven Vogt who led the original study at the University of California, Santa Cruz.



'We are not trying to prove the nonexistence of a planet,' Pepe said. 'It's really difficult to prove that something does not exist. We are just saying we do not see a significant signal that is really different from noise.'



Steven Vogt, who did not attend the meeting in Turin, told New Scientist said that HIRES data – which were not used by the Geneva team – were needed in order to see the planet.



He told the magazine: 'I feel confident that we have accurately and honestly reported our uncertainties and done a thorough and responsible job extracting what information this data set has to offer.'



He added: 'In 15 years of exoplanet hunting, with over hundreds of planets detected by our team, we have yet to publish a single false claim, retraction, or erratum.'



The Swiss team has not yet published its results in a peer-reviewed journal - crucial if its doubts are to be taken seriously by the scientific community.



Last month researchers said that the discovery of Gliese 581g suggested the universe is teeming with world like our own.



If it exists, it is so far away, spaceships travelling close to the speed of light would take 20 years to make the journey. If a rocket was one day able to travel at a tenth of the speed of light, it would take 200 years to make the journey.



The findings come from 11 years of observations at the W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii.



The planet orbits a small red star called Gliese 581 in the constellation of Libra. The planet, named Glieseg, is 118,000,000,000,000 miles away - so far away that light from its start takes 20 years to reach the Earth.



It takes just 37 days to orbit its sun which means its seasons last for just a few days. One side of the planet always faces its star and basks in perpetual daylight, while the other is in perpetual darkness.



The most suitable place for life or future human colonists would be in the 'grey' zone - the band between darkness and light that circles the planet.



'Any emerging life forms would have a wide range of stable climates to choose from and to evolve around, depending on their longitude,' said Dr Vogt who reported the find in the Astrophysical Journal.



Astronomers have now found six planets in orbit around Gliese 581 - including the no-disputed 'g' - the most discovered in a planetary system other than our own solar system.



Its star is a red giant - a massive star near the end of its life. It is too dim to see in the night sky from Earth without a telescope.



Astronomers have found nearly 500 exoplanets - or planets outside our own solar system.



However, almost all are too big, made of gas instead of rock, too hot or too cold for life as we know it.

Astronomers Worldwide Forge New Rules for ET Engagement

I can't say for sure, but lately there's been a lot of news that, if looked at collectively, could be interpreted as pointing in that direction.



It seems as if everyone from the Vatican to the military to scientists conducting the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, or SETI, are getting on the ET bandwagon.



Just last week, in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, the International Academy of Astronautics' SETI Permanent Study group created new guidelines for how earthlings should best handle official contact with extraterrestrials.



"The guidelines were and still are: Do good science and don't cry wolf. Make sure that what you're about to announce is, in fact, what you think it is," Jill Tarter, director of the SETI Institute's Center for SETI Research in California, told AOL News.



"In the case of the first protocol, it was: Don't respond until there's some consensus, a) that we should respond; and b) when we respond, who's going to speak for Earth and what are they going to say?



"We originally took that to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, and it's duly filed away. When we presented that, we suggested that the U.N. might want to be proactive, and to think about the fact that this might happen."



For decades, SETI scientists, using radio and optical telescopes, have searched the heavens for proof that we're not alone in the universe. In the new SETI guidelines, the protocol for confirmation of an alien intelligence is clearly laid out:



"If the verification process confirms -- by the consensus of the other investigators involved and to a degree of certainty judged by the discoverers to be credible -- that a signal or other evidence is due to extraterrestrial intelligence, the discoverer shall report this conclusion in a full and complete, open manner to the public, the scientific community and the secretary-general of the United Nations."



Last November, Tarter was a participant at a Vatican-sponsored astrobiology conference -- a gathering of international scientists and religious leaders who considered the idea that life may exist elsewhere in the cosmos. In fact, a Jesuit astronomer, Jose Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory, had previously suggested that the idea of "brother extraterrestrials" would not conflict with Catholic doctrine.



"It was all about the question of life in the universe, and how we might find it, or life of a different kind -- weird life -- on this planet," said Tarter.

Tarter, whose work formed the basis of the character portrayed by Jodie Foster in the 1997 movie "Contact," suggests religious groups would be fine with the idea that Earth is not the only inhabited planet around.



"People say, 'Oh, my God, it's the end of religion if you detect a signal,' and I think organized religion is a lot more flexible than that," she said. "It's been around for millennia. Our view of the universe has changed hugely, so I don't think that this would be the death knell or the singularity in organized religion."



It's also hard to escape all the recent UFO items in the news.



Two months ago, the National Archives of England released UFO-related documents, including some that revealed how former Prime Minister Winston Churchill reportedly covered up wartime accounts of UFO sightings because he feared they might create a panic among the population.



Later this month, we'll find out how the European Union will finally respond to Italian Northern League leader Mario Borghezio's request, made in June, that EU member governments disclose their UFO files and establish a European UFO commission.



Ten days ago, at the National Press Club in Washington, several former Air Force officers came together, offering testimony of their experiences with UFOs at nuclear weapons sites, both in the U.S. and abroad, going back several decades.



An upsurge of UFO reports in China this year has prompted a planetary astronomer at the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to speculate that "contact between humans and extraterrestrial life will, hopefully, come this century."



Last week's announcement of the discovery of an Earth-like planet in our galactic neighborhood created a stir in the scientific community as well as the media.



While Tarter is engaged in the search for radio signals from possible distant civilizations, she acknowledges the significance of finding a planet that may harbor only primitive life forms.



"The universe is appearing to be more bio-friendly as we get closer to having a real Earth analog," she said. "It's really nice to see something that's about Earth-sized in an orbit that might, in fact, allow there to be a temperate and water-filled area on the planet."







And this week, British researchers hope to find alien life forms closer to home, in Earth's upper atmosphere, a prospect Tarter finds intriguing.



"There could be, in fact, another shadow biosphere on Earth where there's a different form of metabolism that might not use DNA, or might use different bio-solvents -- it's actually not completely out of the question."



Tarter suggests that life might even be found in non-Earthlike habitable zones, in places where "extremophile" organisms may thrive -- life forms that may actually require hazardous conditions."As we've looked at extremophiles and looked at our own solar system better, we appreciate that," she said. "There might be life under the ice of [Jupiter's moon] Europa, and that could happen in other planetary systems. The nice thing is that we're getting close enough to it being science -- that we can actually go after the details and not just have to tell a story. It's really exciting."



So, does all of this -- SETI, Vatican, UFOs, high-atmosphere microbes -- or any of this signal a coming extraterrestrial disclosure?



Maybe I'm just tying a string of alien beads together that are leading nowhere, but I can't help wondering.

Beijing Review Interview With Wang Sichao - Tracking UFO's

Recently, reports of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) have been occurring frequently in China. On July 7 this year, more than 20 flights were postponed at Xiaoshan International Airport in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, because of a sighting. Whenever such reported sightings occur, Wang Sichao, a research fellow at the Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is much busier than usual. In addition to studying the sightings, Wang, who started work on UFOs nearly 40 years ago, has to check and reply to mail about UFOs from all across China. Lately, Wang predicted "great events" concerning UFOs were going to come out in China in the next two years. In an interview with Beijing Review, he shared his views and stories with reporter Tang Yuankai. Edited excerpts follow:

Beijing Review: Why did you make such a prediction? What's your basis?



Wang Sichao: First, I'd like to say something about the conception of "great events about UFOs." It does not mean large numbers of UFOs but refers to events of credible facts backed by observation. But these facts cannot yet be explained by existing scientific knowledge or natural phenomena. Through 39 years' investigation and research, I found that in years ending with the numbers 1, 2 or 7—such as 1971, 1981, 1991, 1982, 1992, 2002, 1977, 1987, 2007—great UFO events would happen. So, I think 2011 and 2012 will be another two active years.



In recent years, what kinds of UFO phenomena have happened in China? In which areas of China? Was there ever anything like the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind?



Many kinds of UFOs have appeared in China in recent years, in appearances such as bolide, light spot, spiral, fan, bright star, flying rod, ball lightning and V-shaped. UFO events occurred more often in the north of the Yangtze River. But there were exceptions. For instance, a V-shaped UFO appeared over Nanjing on January 10, 2006.



During the last century, there was also something like Close Encounters of the Third Kind in China. But it was similar to what happened in other countries and lacked reliable evidence.





In your opinion, why, for decades, has there been no significant progress in UFO studies domestically and overseas?



UFOs are a worldwide mystery of over a century. In 2007, Nick Pope, former head of the British Government's UFO Project, said over the last 60 years, the British Ministry of Defense had been working on the mystery all the time, but no answer could be found. Governments and military departments of the United States and France have also had difficulty progressing in UFO exploration.



Why, for 60 years, was there no progress in UFO studies? The reason is that a UFO only appears randomly and often disappears rapidly in a few minutes. By the time large professional telescopes are started up, it has already disappeared. So, we can only rely on information from occasional sightings or encounters by observers. For decades, domestic and international practice has shown it is difficult for military departments alone to study UFOs.



Like ghosts in the air, UFOs are mysterious and varied. There have been discussions and controversies for decades about the existence of UFOs. Some scholars assert a UFO is an optical illusion, while others think UFOs do exist as objects. So, exploring UFO phenomena is really an interesting matter.





What stage is China at in the study of UFOs? Is there any cooperation with international colleagues?



China is already walking in the forefront of international UFO research and exploration. At present, with plenty of credible, verifiable observation reports, China has entered a quantitative analysis stage of study. We also carried out academic exchanges with colleagues all over the world.





How do you conduct UFO research and what tools and methods do you employ? Can you tell us something about your research achievements?



In order to overcome the difficulties in UFO study, I introduced quantitative analysis methods into the field. In the last 39 years, based on my work at the PMO and my personal observation experiences, I have made quantitative analysis of some of the great UFO events by employing spherical astronomy and physics.



In the past decades, a large number of experienced astronomy amateurs have appeared in China. They are scattered throughout the country, and form an efficient observation network. Once a UFO event occurs, the PMO where I have been working will receive huge amounts of observational data from amateurs.



As for me, with years of field observation experience and six years of study in astrophysics at Peking University, I can figure out flying height, direction, and speed and the position of substellar point (the point on the earth at which the star is in the zenith at a specified time) by employing spherical astronomy methods based on several high quality sighting reports about a UFO event from different locations with sufficient distance, and analyze the mechanism of the event by physical methods.





Tracking UFOs



Since 1971, I have been engaged in conducting in-depth investigations and quantitative and semi-quantitative scientific analysis to at least 20 spiral, fan and light-like UFO events. I found many strange flying objects appeared at a speed much lower than first cosmic velocity in the space between 130 km to 1,500 km from the Earth's surface. Some even flew at a speed as low as 0.29 km a second, 4 percent of the first cosmic velocity at the flying height, and flew at the height of around 1,460 km for 25 minutes. The facts show those UFOs may possess anti-gravity ability, or they would have fallen to the Earth.



I classified the more than 100 typical UFO events that occurred in the last 39 years into 10 or so types. I paid more attention to UFO events observed at the same time but from more than two different locations. I found seven types of these events could be explained through existing natural phenomena and knowledge, including objects that look like bolides, light spots, bright constellations, flying point clusters, bright stars, or flying sticks. Eight types still cannot be explained from existing knowledge, including spiral-, fan-, spindle-, ball-, or V-shaped objects, or those that look like balls of lightning, strange vehicles or flying saucers, of which spiral-, fan-, light ball- or flying saucer-shaped objects may be related to extraterrestrial craft.



What do you think we should do to further the exploration for UFOs?



Designing and manufacturing a new type of special telescope is very necessary. As a UFO is only met by chance and disappears rapidly, a special telescope with a small aperture may be better for observations. More such telescopes should be made and installed in different observation stations, so as to form an observation network. Once a UFO appears, immediate and networked observations would be carried out, thereby achieving a leap in observation accuracy, depth and quality. At the same time, more accurate quantitative analysis should be employed on the basis of observation.





For human beings, what is the significance of UFO studies?



First, we hope to explore extraterrestrial civilizations. If we find solid evidence about alien spacecraft visiting the Earth through further observation and analysis, it would be as significant as Columbus Christopher's discovering the New World. Second, we need to explore unknown natural phenomenon and laws. Third, it would be of great significance to national defense and economic development. Fourth, finding out the truth about UFOs would also be helpful for dispelling the public's superstitions and misconceptions.





At present, scientists do not have any concrete evidence about aliens. But many scientists believe aliens exist. Does this mean the question is not whether there are aliens, but when they will contact us?



Yes. Astronomers all over the world are now intensifying their efforts to explore extraterrestrial life and civilization. As long as we have open minds about scientific exploration of the unknown and employ multiple methods, the contact between humans and extraterrestrial life will hopefully come this century.

Alien Space Ship on the Moon?

Here's a story that has been going around the web since about 2007. It's pretty amazing and I'm kind of surprised that it hasn't received more attention. I think many editors thought it was too far fetched to be true.



To be honest, we thought it was a hoax until we decided to procure the film strips from the NASA site, noticed that there were two images of the object available (taken from different angles) and made a 3D composite image. The results are at the bottom of this page. While we are not confident about the accompanying video and images of the "alien entity" (the female body), we are surprised that the 3D images do show an actual object on the Moon's surface.



If you have the old red-blue 3D glasses you can see the spaceship pretty clearly. There's not much doubt that it's a spaceship -- either that or a submarine -- but we'll leave that up to our readers to decide.



Background Story

The story comes to us from a man who claims he was on a special NASA mission:



William Rutledge is retired and now lives in Africa. He recently came out to reveal some amazing facts about his involvement with NASA in the late 70s. Rutledge claims to have worked on at least two missions to the Moon, including the failed Apollo 19, and the Apollo 20, which he says was launched in August of 1976 from Vandenberg Air Force Base.



Both of these missions, according to Rutledge, were "classified joint Space missions" resulting from collaborations between U.S. and Soviet governments. They do not appear on any roster of NASA missions -- and, if this is true -- for good reasons.



The purpose of these missions was to investigate a large object on the far side of the moon in the Delporte-Izsak region, allegedly discovered and photographed during the Apollo 15 mission. The object, which vaguely resembled an "X-Wing" fighter as seen in the Star Wars films, was supposed to have been a very large alien spacecraft which had crashed or was otherwise abandoned on the Moon in ancient times.

How big is the ship? Thanks to website ramistrip.com we have a graphic to dmeonstrate. When we say "huge" we really need another word because it doesn't come close to describe this space ship. I will let the picture do the talking!

Images, and even videos of this alleged craft have appeared on the web, and have been popularized by researchers like Richard C. Hoagland over the last several years.

Recovered body of female EBE



Rutledge claims that they (with Soviet Cosmonaut, Lexei Leonov) landed a Lunar Module (Russian made) near the alien ship and actually entered it. Certain atrifacts were discovered and recovered, including two bodies alleged to be the "pilots" -- one was in excellent condition and appeared to be female. A second body was too deteriorated to recover and just the head was retrieved. The female has been dubed, "Mona Lisa."



"We went inside the big spaceship, also into a triangular one. The major parts of the exploration was; it was a mother ship, very old, who crossed the universe at least milliard of years ago (1.5 estimated). There were many signs of biology inside, old remains of a vegetation in a "motor" section, special triangular rocks who emitted "tears" of a yellow liquid which has some special medical properties, and of course signs of extra solar creatures. We found remains of little bodies (10cm) living in a network of glass tubes all along the ship, but the major discovery was two bodies, one intact.



The "City" was named on Earth and scheduled as station one, but it appeared to be a real space garbage, full of scrap, gold parts, only one construction seemed intact (we named it the Cathedral). We made shots of pieces of metal, of every part wearing calligraphy, exposed to the sun. The "City" seem to be as old as the ship, but it is a very tiny part. On the rover video, the telephotolens make the artifacts greater.



I don't remember who named the girl, Leonov or me -- was the intact EBE. Humanoid, female, 1.65 meter. Genitalized, haired, six fingers (we guess that mathematics are based on a dozen). Function; pilot, piloting device fixed to fingers and eyes, no clothes, we had to cut two cables connected to the nose. No nostril. Leonov unfixed the eyes device (you'll see that in the video). concretions of blood or bio liquid erupted and froze from the mouth, nose, eyes and some parts of the body. Some parts of the body were in unusual good condition, (hair) and the skin was protected by a thin transparent protection layer. As we told to mission control, condition seemed not dead not alive. We had no medical background or experience, but Leonov and I used a test, we fixed our bio equipment on the EBE, and telemetry received by surgeon (Mission Control meds) was positive. That's another story. Some parts could be unbelievable now, I prefer tell the whole story when other videos will be online. This experience has been filmed in the LM. We found a second body, destroyed, we brought the head on board. Color of the skin was blue gray, a pastel blue. Skin had some strange details above the eyes and the front, a strap around the head, wearing no inscription. The "cockpit" was full of calligraphy and formed of long semi hexagonal tubes. She is on Earth and she is not dead, but I prefer to post other videos before telling what happened after."

Strange tubes were found on the alien female's face. These were later removed and her body was inspected and filmed on board the Lunar Module. The video is available on youtube.







Samples of what appears to be writing were also discovered, although it looks more like scribble.

While the video and story could have been faked, the object which was photographed by Appollo 15 is patently real. It is not discoloration of the surface, a photographic artifact or an oddly illuminated crater. The 3D photograph clearly shows the shape and position of this very unusual object.

Photoshopped NASA Image Is A Cover-up

ALIEN conspiracy theorists are confident they've caught NASA in the act of covering up the fact we are not alone in the universe.



A video posted on YouTube yesterday showed how an image of Saturn's moons Dione and Titan, taken by NASA's Cassini orbiter, had been Photoshopped before being added to a Picture of the Day website.







In the video, "DominatorPS3" turned up the brightness levels on the photo to show that a "huge" object can be seen behind the smaller moon, Dione.



Clearly visible are brush strokes that show how the rainbow aura of the object has been blacked out.



"More solid proof of NASA/ government coverups," DominatorPS3 said.



"... and this is recent. You can do this yourself!!"



Of course, being the internet, it didn't take long for the truth to get out there, so to speak.



The person responsible for the manipulation, Emily Lakdawalla, told a forum of excitable theorists that she made the changes because of the way Cassini takes photos.



"Cassini takes colour pictures by snapping three sequential photos through red, green, and blue filters," she said.

"In the time that separated the three frames, Dione moved, so if I did a simple color composite I would be able to make Titan look right, but not Dione; or Dione look right, but not Titan.



"So I aligned Dione, cut it out, and then aligned Titan, and then had to account for the missing bits of shadow where the bits of Dione had been in two of the three channels."



She explained the process further at Planetary.org but it still wasn't enough for the alien hunters, particularly DominatorPS3.



"Thanks for the feedback and explanation," he said in a comment on the YouTube post.



"However I still remain sceptical because someone still could have ordered her to 'cut it or something out'.



"But thanks for putting that info up so others can read it; I am not trying to convince people what I believe."

Are The Powers To Be, Grooming Us For Alien Disclosure?

The talk of Aliens has been classed as a conspiracy theory since the late 1940's with the Roswell incident, since then it has been the ridicule and the amusement of the media; those inside the UFO community have often been ridiculed and to be honest anyone who reported a UFO sighting or close encounter was accused of being strange weird or just a nut job!

 All this recent activity in the media leads me to presume that full disclosure is on its way, take for instance the new Earth like planet that was discovered "apparently" this week, the strange thing is NASA had sent a signal to the same region before!, after strange pulsating lights from the same area of space last year were spotted.

 And also the recent admission that nuclear weapons have been compromised by UFOs. Of course there will never really be one "Everybody! Aliens exist!" moment. Slowly, piece by piece the idea of Aliens and UFOs will seep into the public mindset and one day we will all wake up in a world where we walk amongst aliens living together and UFOs flying above our heads and everyone will wonder when did it happened. But it's unlikely to come anytime soon - the company wants to launch a seven-room station by 2016 but may increase or decrease that capacity based on customer demand, The Associated Press reports.



A cosy fit, the first module will measure just 20 cubic metres (706 cubic feet) and have four cabins, designed for up to seven passengers, who would go into orbit using the Soyuz shuttle, chief executive Kostenko said.



Up to now space tourists, who have included the Canadian founder of the Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberte, have squeezed into the International Space Station (ISS) along with cosmonauts and animal life including fruit flies.



The new hotel will offer more comforts than the ISS, Kostenko said, AFP informs

Alien life certain to exist on Earth-like planet, scientists say

The chances of alien life existing on a newly-discovered Earth-like planet are 100 per cent, an astronomer has claimed.



Gliese 581g was discovered orbiting a nearby star at a distance that places it squarely in the "habitable zone" where liquid could exist on its surface. Of around 500 planets that astronomers have found outside Earth's solar system, this is the first to be considered habitable.



The planet is a similar size to Earth and its mass indicates that it is probably rocky with a definite surface and has enough gravity to hold an atmosphere, according to Prof Steven Vogt, who led the team that discovered it.



It is as yet unknown whether water does exist on the planet or what kind of atmosphere it has. But because conditions are ideal for liquid, which is always a precursor for life on Earth, Prof Vogt believes that life will undoubtedly have begun there.



"Personally, given the ubiquity and propensity of life to flourish wherever it can, I would say, my own personal feeling is that the chances of life on this planet are 100 percent," he said during a press briefing. "I have almost no doubt about it."



The findings are based on 11 years of observations by ground-based telescopes at the W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii.



The close proximity of Gliese 581g and the fact that it was found relatively early in the astronomers' search suggests that there may be billions of other habitable planets like Earth in the universe.



Prof Vogt estimates that as many as one in five to 10 stars in the universe have planets that are Earth-sized and in the habitable zone.



With an estimated 200 billion stars in the galaxy, that means that around 40 billion planets could have the potential for life, he said.



The new findings by Prof Vogt and Paul Butler, of the Carnegie Institution in Washington, will be published in the Astrophysical Journal.



The paper reports the discovery of two new planets around the nearby red dwarf star Gliese 581.



The most interesting of the two new planets is Gliese 581g, which has a mass three to four times that of Earth and an orbital period of just under 37 days.



Gliese 581g is located 20 light years away from Earth in the constellation Libra.



The planet is tidally locked to the star, meaning that one side is always facing the star and basking in perpetual daylight, while the side facing away from the star is in perpetual darkness.



The researchers estimate that the average surface temperature of the planet is between -24 and 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-31 to -12 degrees Celsius).



Actual temperatures would range from blazing hot on the side facing the star to freezing cold on the dark side.



The surface gravity would be about the same or slightly higher than Earth's, so that a person could easily walk upright on the planet, Prof Vogt said.

UN to appoint Earth contact for aliens

THE United Nations was set today to appoint an obscure Malaysian astrophysicist to act as Earth’s first contact for any aliens that may come visiting.



Mazlan Othman, the head of the UN's little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa), is to describe her potential new role next week at a scientific conference at the Royal Society’s Kavli conference centre in Buckinghamshire.



She is scheduled to tell delegates that the recent discovery of hundreds of planets around other stars has made the detection of extraterrestrial life more likely than ever before - and that means the UN must be ready to coordinate humanity’s response to any “first contact”.



During a talk Othman gave recently to fellow scientists, she said: “The continued search for extraterrestrial communication, by several entities, sustains the hope that some day humankind will receive signals from extraterrestrials.



"When we do, we should have in place a coordinated response that takes into account all the sensitivities related to the subject. The UN is a ready-made mechanism for such coordination.”



Professor Richard Crowther, an expert in space law and governance at the UK Space Agency and who leads British delegations to the UN on such matters, said: “Othman is absolutely the nearest thing we have to a ‘take me to your leader’ person.”



However, he thinks humanity’s first encounter with any intelligent aliens is more likely to be via radio or light signals from a distant planet than by beings arriving on Earth. And, he suggests, even if we do encounter aliens in the flesh, they are more likely to be microbes than anything intelligent.

U.S. Nuclear Weapons Have Been Compromised by Unidentified Aerial Objects

Witness testimony from more than 120 former or retired military personnel points to an ongoing and alarming intervention by unidentified aerial objects at nuclear weapons sites, as recently as 2003. In some cases, several nuclear missiles simultaneously and inexplicably malfunctioned while a disc-shaped object silently hovered nearby. Six former U.S. Air Force officers and one former enlisted man will break their silence about these events at the National Press Club and urge the government to publicly confirm their reality.



One of them, ICBM launch officer Captain Robert Salas, was on duty during one missile disruption incident at Malmstrom Air Force Base and was ordered to never discuss it. Another participant, retired Col. Charles Halt, observed a disc-shaped object directing beams of light down into the RAF Bentwaters airbase in England and heard on the radio that they landed in the nuclear weapons storage area. Both men will provide stunning details about these events, and reveal how the U.S. military responded.



Captain Salas notes, "The U.S. Air Force is lying about the national security implications of unidentified aerial objects at nuclear bases and we can prove it." Col. Halt adds, "I believe that the security services of both the United States and the United Kingdom have attempted—both then and now—to subvert the significance of what occurred at RAF Bentwaters by the use of well-practiced methods of disinformation."



The group of witnesses and a leading researcher, who has brought them together for the first time, will discuss the national security implications of these and other alarmingly similar incidents and will urge the government to reveal all information about them. This is a public-awareness issue.



Declassified U.S. government documents, to be distributed at the event, now substantiate the reality of UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites extending back to 1948. The press conference will also address present-day concerns about the abuse of government secrecy as well as the ongoing threat of nuclear weapons.

Intrigue After Couple Capture UFO On Film

A FORRES couple have been sitting at their window looking into space and wondering, ever since they spotted an unidentified bright light in the skies above Forres.



And after speaking publicly about the UFO mystery, they received an alarming phone call warning them off speaking about the incident.



Don and Pat MacArthur were at home at 2 Nelson Road, watching the TV on Friday, September 3, shortly after 8.45pm when they both spotted a strange light in the skies above the town.



"We both spotted a bright light at the living-room window above the trees on the other side of the road," said Don, who works for Moray Council's lands and park crew. "I thought it was a helicopter searchlight, and was waiting for the aircraft, but it wasn't that.



"My wife just ran to the window to see closer," he added. "I knew it wasn't a helicopter and I ran into the other room to get my cine camera."

The couple's living room window looks out over the houses on the opposite side of the road, and they both spotted the object above the chimney pots and tops of trees coming from the rough direction of Forres High Street.

"I don't know what it was, but I managed to capture a few seconds of it on camera," said Mr MacArthur. "I ran out the door in my socks and zoomed in full to try and get a better picture."



The images show a bright, pink, largish, diamond-like object in the sky and then just disappearing. Moments later, a black object appears in the corner of the screen, appearing to come from roughly the same direction, but much higher in the sky with a small trailing light at the top of the screen.



Then a black object appears, falling slowly towards the earth, before disappearing from sight by the chimney pots.



Mr MacArthur said he has shown the film to several people and no one can explain what it is, or has ever seen anything like it before.



He dismissed the idea that it could be a burning chinese lantern - which are available for sale locally - due to the height, shape and colour of the object and the way he claims it moves, having compared it against other pictures of the lanterns, which are lit and released into the sky, before they just gradually burn out.



"If it was a lantern, then why didn't my camera show it burning out," he said. "I had it pointed there and it just disappeared. In my opinion it was something moving away extremely quickly."



Mr MacArthur claims that the far right of the pink diamond light has a white light, which indicates something moving at speed while the left hand side has a sort of glow, as if the article has come from that direction. He also claims that there is a sort of vapour trail in the third sequence, as if the object is smoking or spilling fuel.



Mrs MacArthur, who works part-time for Moray Estates, said when the light appeared at first that she thought it was a firework, but it never exploded and then moved sideways.



There was very little wind on Friday night, and no reports of any flares, or fireworks.



Spokesman for the Findhorn Marina and Moray Inshore Rescue Organisation, Simon Paterson said that if someone had released a flare, he didn't know about it.



He said a flare was quite distinctive, and usually red, green or white in colour and roughly circular shaped, and could remain in the sky for about a minute, being designed to burn out before descending. He added that there might be a parachute attachment which could drop afterwards.



He said that flares were sometimes released above the bomb dump area at RAF Kinloss, but agreed that it was quite late on a Friday night.



A spokesman for RAF Kinloss said that there were no flares or anything else released on that Friday night, and no reports of anything unusual or any aircraft activity above the town at the time.



The mystery deepened further when Mr MacArthur received a phone call, with a recorded message telling him that to tell people he had seen a UFO would harm his bed and breakfast business.



"I was really surprised," he said. "It was a recorded message - a woman's voice - telling me to press various keys for further information."



The call came just hours after he had spoken to 'The Forres Gazette' about his experiences.



"My son knows someone who filmed something which he thought was a UFO," he said. "They came and took his camera and kit away from him. It makes you wonder."

Retired NORAD Officer's New Book Predicts a Tentative Worldwide UFO Display on October 13, 2010

A newly-published book by a retired NORAD officer predicts October 13, 2010 as the tentative date for a fleet of extraterrestrial vehicles to hover for hours over the earth's principal cities. Author says the event to be the first in a series intended to avert a planetary catastrophe resulting from increasing levels of carbon-dioxide in the earth's atmosphere dangerously approaching a "critical mass."



A newly-published 352-page book by a retired Air Force officer, Stanley A. Fulham, tentatively predicts October 13, 2010 as the date for a massive UFO display over the world’s principal cities. According to the author, the aliens will neither land nor communicate on that date; they are aware from eons of experience with other planets in similar conditions their sudden intervention would cause fear and panic.



The book, Challenges of Change (3rd ed.), reports this event will be the initial interaction in a process leading to mankind’s acceptance of the alien reality and technologies for the removal of poisonous gases from the earth’s atmosphere in 2015, if not sooner.



The author draws upon his military experience with the UFO phenomenon dating back to WW2, and later, with NORAD and his subsequent life-long association with a senior NORAD intelligence officer who provided him a wealth of historical data relating to NORAD’s experience with the UFO/alien reality which has never been revealed to the public. In the military's view, as conveyed to and understood by Fulham, the public is not yet ready to accept an alien reality.



Fulham writes it is generally recognized UFOs function beyond our earth's physical laws, and has concluded answers to questions regarding who they are, where are they from, why are they here, are they a threat, and the mystery of abductions could only be found at a higher dimension of reality.



For more than a decade, through the services of a world renowned channeler, the author has communicated with an ethereal group of entities known as the Transcendors -- 43,000 very old souls who combine their vast experience and knowledge through eons of incarnations, providing advice and information to humans in search of basic realities of mankind’s existence.

Mysterious force holds back Nasa probe in deep space

A SPACE probe launched 30 years ago has come under the influence of a force that has baffled scientists and could rewrite the laws of physics.





Researchers say Pioneer 10, which took the first close-up pictures of Jupiter before leaving our solar system in 1983, is being pulled back to the sun by an unknown force. The effect shows no sign of getting weaker as the spacecraft travels deeper into space, and scientists are considering the possibility that the probe has revealed a new force of nature.



Dr Philip Laing, a member of the research team tracking the craft, said: "We have examined every mechanism and theory we can think of and so far nothing works.





"If the effect is real, it will have a big impact on cosmology and spacecraft navigation," said Dr Laing, of the Aerospace Corporation of California.



Pioneer 10 was launched by Nasa on March 2 1972, and with Pioneer 11, its twin, revolutionised astronomy with detailed images of Jupiter and Saturn. In June 1983, Pioneer 10 passed Pluto, the most distant planet in our solar system.



Both probes are now travelling at 27,000mph towards stars that they will encounter several million years from now. Scientists are continuing to monitor signals from Pioneer 10, which is more than seven billion miles from Earth.



Research to be published shortly in The Physical Review, a leading physics journal, will show that the speed of the two probes is being changed by about 6 mph per century - a barely-perceptible effect about 10 billion times weaker than gravity.



Scientists initially suspected that gas escaping from tiny rocket motors aboard the probes, or heat leaking from their nuclear power plants might be responsible. Both have now been ruled out. The team says no current theories explain why the force stays constant: all the most plausible forces, from gravity to the effect of solar radiation, decrease rapidly with distance.



The bizarre behaviour has also eliminated the possibility that the two probes are being affected by the gravitational pull of unknown planets beyond the solar system.



Assertions by some scientists that the force is due to a quirk in the Pioneer probes have also been discounted by the discovery that the effect seems to be affecting Galileo and Ulysses, two other space probes still in the solar system. Data from these two probes suggests the force is of the same strength as that found for the Pioneers.



Dr Duncan Steel, a space scientist at Salford University, says even such a weak force could have huge effects on a cosmic scale. "It might alter the number of comets that come towards us over millions of years, which would have consequences for life on Earth. It also raises the question of whether we know enough about the law of gravity."



Until 1988, Pioneer 10 was the most remote object made by man - a distinction now held by Voyager 1. Should Pioneer 10 make contact with alien life, it carries a gold-plated aluminium plaque on which the figures of a man and woman are shown to scale, along with a map showing its origin that Nasa calls "the cosmic equivalent of a message in a bottle".

Colombia fails to find meteorite crash site

Despite a 1,000-strong search team and a police helicopter looking for the remains of a giant fireball seen in the skies of central Colombia, authorities have been unable to locate the supposed meteorite's crash site.



The Colombian media has been buzzing with eyewitness accounts of the fireball, which fell from the sky, causing a massive explosion at 3:15PM Sunday.





However after an intense search Monday authorities were find any remnant of the meteorite.



A committee assembled by Santander Governor Horacio Serpa to analyze the phenomenon said they believe it was a type of meteorite known as an aerolite, which can be comprised of either iron or rock and ice. They believe it is likely to be the latter type, which often breaks up into small fragments in the air, making it impossible to locate on the ground.



Gregorio Portilla, an astronomer Colombia's National University, said that around 30 meteorites fall to earth each year.



"These bodies can travel at a speed of between 11 and 70 kilometers per second, as in, a speed five times the speed of sound" and usually break up in the air or upon impact with the earth's surface, Portilla said.



Meanwhile, authorities are investigating a second explosion that was heard in Colombia's western Valle del Cauca department and may have been another meteorite



Valle del Cauca police commander Colonel Nelson Aceros said he heard the explosion and "it felt like the earth was shaking." The explosion was heard in the municipalities of El Cairo, Versalles Toro, and El Dovio.



Versalles Mayor Jorge Hernan Gomez said locals had been frightened after seeing "a dazzling light followed by an extremely strong explosion that shook the earth."



"It was thought to have been a plane that crashed, but that hypothesis was ruled out," he added.

The statement above brought it into focus for me. If you want the “Truth” you have to go out and look for it. Our government has learned how to keep “Secrets” successfully for a very long time. But there are a handful of “Patriots” like Apollo astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell a scientists in his own right,(6th man to walk on the Moon) that believe this knowledge should be made public and therefore taking the control away from the Government and giving it to the people. Knowledge is power; power is to be managed with restraint, caution, accountability and honesty. The U.S. Government doesn’t think we can handle the truth, who are they to think what we can handle or not? We know one thing for sure they can’t handle themselves.

Open your minds, do you really think this is all there is to it? We go about our daily lives, get set into our mundane routines, self medicate with food, drugs, TV or sex to forget the stress of our days. When “Full Disclosure” happens, and it is in process now, I hope people are reading and paying attention to “Page 7” and not the catch phrase headlines that they pay people too much money to come up with.



If you pay attention, open your mind to any and all possibilities, you just might know what to do and when to do it to preserve what is your birthright, your freedom, your life and your family’s lives. I have noticed that the 20 something’s that are the future of our beautiful country are tuned in, and my daughter who is 25 said, “ Dad, you know all those History Channel, Science Channel, TLC Channel shows you tape and watch over and over?” I said, “Yeah, what about it?” “Well all my friends have their TV sets stuck on those channels and that all they watch and talk about.” What she said resonated within me. I thought to myself, you know, when I was 25, was I really paying attention to what was going on in the world because I was just starting a family etc. I don’t know, but I realized that my daughters generation is paying attention and being a lot more open to believing the seemingly impossible things that are now being “Disclosed” as fact on a daily basis. Don’t believe me? Check for yourself, in the last 5 years I realized that everything they taught me in High School about science, math, physics, were all wrong! Especially our History books in my day. There have been not only more UFO sightings than any other time in written history worldwide lately. There have also been more movies, TV, Cable, programming on the Paranormal, Physics, How the Universe Works, UFO Hunters, Psychic Kids, Monster Quest, etc. etc. on TV and pounding it to whoever will listen. More countries are coming out and releasing their UFO classified files. They want transparency but the USA wants the control.



Physics in the public sector is just starting to make sense of some of these new discoveries and old discoveries but new disclosures on them. We are on the verge of discovering a live “Sasquatch” on B.C. Island. I just feel it coming fast and furious. They have found evidence of a huge population of the humanoid like ape creatures there, and being on an island makes the scientists work a lot easier. Not to forget to mention all of the new gadgetry that exist now for scientists, that were locked behind Military and Government control for years are now becoming available to the private sector for a price.



The Sumerians and the Mayans for example tried to document as best they could what was going on in their time on this planet. The Real China UFO Photo Mixed With Fakes!

On July 9, 2010, The People’s Daily of China ran a story about a UFO witnessed by hundreds over China on July 7. The UFO closed down Xiaoshan Airport, which serves the city of Hangzhou, for an hour; and Air Traffic controllers could not identify the UFO. An official investigation was subsequently launched. A resident took a photo of the cigar shaped UFO that was cited in the People’s Daily story (image above). Together with radar evidence, the photo has been widely circulated in the mass media as physical evidence of a UFO responsible for closing down a busy regional airport.





However, shortly after the People’s Daily story, the photo was included with four others on Godlike Productions, a popular U.S. internet forum. The problem was that the four other photos were unrelated to the China incident and/or fakes. The fakes were included with the genuine UFO China photo in a Youtube video that went viral. Was it simply a mistake, or had a psychological operation begun to downplay the significance of the China UFO incident by mixing a genuine photo with fakes.

The significance of the China UFO story is all too evident by the fact that the People’s Dailyis the official mouthpiece of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and is published worldwide in several languages. In putting out the story, Chinese authorities were sanctioning public discussion of a mass sighting of a UFO that closed a major airport in China. In approving the release of the story, were Chinese authorities simply displaying a remarkable degree of openness on the UFO issue? Alternatively, were they signaling to Western authorities that the People’s Republic had chosen to inform its, and the world’s, public about UFOs?



One sign of the attitude of Chinese authorities was that an anonymous source cited by thePeople’s Daily claimed there was a military link to the UFO. This was an apparent bid to dampen speculation and prevent too much information coming out in China about the UFO’s origins without it first being reported to authorities. Was the real significance of the UFO that it was a secret China’s military aircraft project involving national security; or was it an extraterrestrial vehicle giving a warning to Chinese authorities to disclose the truth about UFOs and alien life? In either case, Chinese authorities may have authorized the People’s Daily story to begin educating the public about UFOs. If so, then those opposed to UFO disclosure and educating the public about extraterrestrial life, began a psychological operation to dampen global speculation about the incident. To do so, the time honored method of mixing genuine data with false data was begun, and the popular internet forum Godlike Productions was the location to launch it



The People’s Daily story appeared at 7:55 AM on July 9 in China. The 12 hour time difference between US East Coast and China (Hong Kong time) meant that it appeared at 7:55 pm EDT on July 8. The photo used in the story was attributed to local resident in Xiaoshan district of Hangzhou, with the source cited as Metrolink. Later, ABC News was able to track down the resident and reported:

Resident Ma Shijun was taking a nighttime stroll with his wife when he saw the object. "I felt a beam of light over my head. Looking up, I saw a streak of bright, white light flying across the sky, so I picked up the camera and took the photo. The time was 8:26 p.m. However, whether the object was a plane, or whether it was Xiaoshan Airport's UFO, I don't have a clear answer," Ma told the Xinhua news agency.

Approximately ten hours later, at 6:25 AM EDT the photo used in the People’s Daily story was linked to, along with four others, on a post from someone allegedly in China on Godlike Productions. Here’s what the poster said: “5 photo of UFO in China. PS or not?” The poster was asking whether the 5 photos, allegedly of the UFO that closed Xiaoshan Airport were photoshopped fakes or genuine. The problem was that only the first of the five photos had anything to do with the July 7 sighting. The other four were dated between 2007 and 2009, and were identified on another popular internet forum, Open Minds, to be time lapse shots of helicopters or other unrelated UFO incidents. It appeared that someone wanted to muddy the waters over the China UFO incident by mixing a genuine photo with fakes and/or earlier unrelated photos.





The five posted photos allegedly of the China UFO were then combined in a Youtube video titled “Amazing Photos of UFO over China” which went viral on July 10. Basically, the Youtube video mixed a genuine photo of the UFO that closed Xiaoshan Airport (third photo in the video below), with four fake/unrelated photos taken between 2007-2009. A poster, allegedly from China, had just succeeded in muddying the waters by ensuring that the genuine photograph of the UFO closing Xiaoshan Airport would be comprised by fake photos. Was this simply a mistake compounded by an innocent Youtube poster, or a very clever psychological operation authorized by those opposed to China’s openness to UFOs and possible disclosure of extraterrestrial life!

In conclusion, it appears that hundreds of residents of the city of Hangzhou saw and/or photographed the UFO that closed Xiaoshan Airport. The photo that appeared in the original People’s Daily story was genuine and Chinese authorities were giving their blessing to greater openness on the UFO issue by their official news outlet. By citing a military link, the People’s Daily sought to calibrate the Chinese public response and ensure all UFOs sightings were reported through legitimate channels.
